Hyper-Kamiokande Advisory Sub-Committee for Cavern&Tank was held

The Hyper-Kamiokande experiment requires excavation of huge underground cavity with unprecedented scale in the world of diameter and height beyond 75 meters. A Hyper-Kamiokande Advisory Sub-Committee for Cavern&Tank is organized by the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, The University of Tokyo and the Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies of the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization to review the Hyper-K design and its construction plan. This sub-committee consists of Japanese engineering experts and provides objective advices to the project.

On the 3rd of August, the 3rd face-to-face sub-committee meeting was held at the University of Tokyo (Hongo Campus). A comprehensive review on the progress of construction preparation, such as evaluation of geological survey results, future study plan, tank liner test, etc. was done. Since Hyper-K was selected by the Roadmap2017 of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, project development becomes more urgent. We will develop more detailed project plans by reflecting the review results.
